Tigers back on a skid
The Tigers have now lost three straight following a 6-0 loss to the Orioles on Friday. Their last two games have seen them go scoreless and they have been shutout six times this season already. Detroit is now 10-14 on the season and 4-7 on the road. The Tigers are scoring 4.58 runs per game while allowing 4.79 per contest.
Fransico Liriano gets the start for the Tigers tonight. He is 2-1 through four starts with a 3.13 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP. Over 23 innings of work in 2018, Liriano has 20 stirkeouts with 12 walks.
Orioles falling apart
Baltimore snapped a five-game losing streak on Friday with the 6-0 win over the Tigers. The Orioles are now 7-19 overall and 4-9 at home. Baltimore is putting up just 3.38 runs per game this season while allowing 5.38 per game.
Andrew Cashner gets the start for the Orioles on Saturday. Cashner is 1-3 on the season through five starts. He has a 3.60 ERA with a 1.33 WHIP. Over 30 innings on the mound, Cashner has 28 strikeouts with 13 walks.
MLB Betting Trends
Detroit
The Tigers are 10-26 in their last 36 road games and 15-37 in their last 52 games against a right-handed starter. They also are 7-20 in their last 27 games after scoring 2 runs or less in their previous game.
Baltimore
The Orioles are just 1-10 in their last 11 Saturday games and 2-8 in their last 10 games against AL Central opponents.
Prediction:
The trends don’t support either team but it’s hard for me to put money on the Tigers when they go through such bad cold stretches at the plate. They have the potential to put up 10 runs, as evident by their scoring average. However, being shutout six times in 24 games is hard to do. Detroit also doesn’t have great pitching even if their hitting does get some runs. I will take my chances on a struggling Baltimore team to grab another win.
The Pick: Baltimore Orioles -130
