Tigers drop another
Detroit suffered a 2-0 loss on Saturday. The Tigers have lost three straight by a combined four runs and they have dropped seven of their last eight. The Tigers are 26-46 overall, 15-22 on the road and 36-30 with the under. Detroit has Daniel Norris taking the mound today. He is 2-5 on the season with a 4.40 ERA.
The Tigers couldn’t manage a run on Saturday, as they stranded nine baserunners over six hits. Jacoby Jones and Niko Goodrum were the lone Tigers to get multiple hits in the contest. Spencer Turnbull didn’t pitch poorly once again, but didn’t get any run support. He is 3-7 on the season after giving up two runs over five innings with four strikeouts.
Indians take another
Cleveland has won six of its last eight games following Saturday’s shutout victory over the Tigers. The Tribe are 41-35 on the season, 22-17 at home and 43-31 with the under. Cleveland has Zach Plesac taking the mound this afternoon. He is 2-2 on the season with a 2.56 ERA.
Aaron Civale pitched six scoreless innings to pick up his first win of the season. Civale had six strikeouts while giving up two hits. His bullpen backed him up with three scoreless innings. Brad Hand earned his 22nd save of the season with a scoreless ninth. Jose Ramirez and Oscar Mercado drove in each of the runs for the Tribe in the win on Saturday.
MLB Betting Trends
Detroit
The Tigers are 0-7 after losing the first two games in the series and 7-19 in Norris’ last 26 starts.
Cleveland
The Indians have won five straight division games and five straight home games against a left-handed starter.
Prediction:
Norris hasn’t been terrible, but he does usually get touched up for a few runs. He doesn’t get much in the way of run support or bullpen help either. Plesac has just five starts, but four of the give have really been solid. He has been able to get through seven innings in three of his five starts as well. I think he will be able to navigate this Detroit lineup just fine and lead the Tribe to a sweep.
MLB Prediction: Cleveland Indians -205
