Tigers on a losing streak
The Detroit Tigers lost their fourth straight game on Saturday, falling 4-1 to Cleveland. The Tigers have scored just one run over these two games with the Tribe. Detroit is now 36-41 overall and 13-24 on the road. The Tigers are averaging 4.12 runs per game at the plate while allowing 4.63 per contest on the mound.
Matthew Boyd gets the start for the Tigers this afternoon. He has started 14 games this season and has a 4-5 record with a 3.63 ERA and a 1.15 WHIP. Boyd has pitched a total of 79.1 innings and has 64 strikeouts with 31 walks.
Indians stay hot
The Indians picked up their sixth consecutive win on Saturday with a 4-1 victory. During this win streak, Cleveland has outscored opponents 42-7. Cleveland is now 42-33 overall and 26-13 at home. The Tribe are scoring 4.97 runs per game while allowing 4.20 per contest.
Adam Plutko will start for the Indians this afternoon. He has started four games and appeared in five. Plutko has a 3-1 record with a 5.04 ERA and a 1.28 WHIP. He has pitched a total of 25.0 innings and has 18 strikeouts with eight walks.
MLB Betting Trends
Detroit
The Tigers have won four of Boyd’s last five starts overall, but they are just 2-9 in his last 11 road starts and 3-7 in his last 10 Sunday starts.
Cleveland
The Indians are 22-6 in their last 28 home games against the Tigers and 39-14 in the last 52 meetings with Detroit overall.
Prediction:
While Plutko is a questionable starter on the mound, the bullpen has been locked in and the Tribe are hitting the ball pretty well right now. The Tigers haven’t been able to hit the ball in this weekend series. Detroit doesn’t have a lot of pop at the plate to work with right now and though Boyd has been good on the mound, I don’t think the Tigers will be able to get this road win.
The Pick: Cleveland Indians -160
