Detroit Tigers Fantasy Spin
Dustin Peterson’s first major league hit came at a good time, as he doubled in the go-ahead run in the ninth inning against the Yankees on Tuesday. And it came against Aroldis Chapman, no less, as Peterson followed a Niko Goodrum walk with a double off the warning track in left field. The Tigers are mixing and matching in the early going in center field, with Peterson getting his first start there in this one after he started a game in left field over the weekend. He can be ignored in fantasy leagues.
New York Yankees Fantasy Spin
Yankees recalled RHP Jonathan Loaisiga from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Loaisiga will make a spot start for the Yankees on Wednesday against a Tigers offense that has posted a combined .169/.261/.249 slash line across 201 at-bats to open the 2019 regular season. The 24-year-old right-hander is a top-100 prospect and makes for an attractive fantasy streaming option, though he’s probably going to be sent back down to Triple-A after the outing. If he does get another turn, it’ll come next Wednesday against a tough Astros lineup.
MLB Betting Trends
Detroit
The Tigers are 5-17 in Matt Boyd’s last 22 road starts dating back to last season. They are also 11-11 in his last 12 road outings when he faces a team with a losing record.
New York
The Yankees have won 75 of their previous 111 home games.
Prediction:
The under has cashed in six straight Detroit games and is a perfect 6-0 in the Tigers’ last six road games as well. The under is 6-0 in Detroit’s last six games versus a right-handed starter and is also 23-9 in the club’s last 32 games versus the American League East. At some point the Yankees’ offense will generate runs in bunches but until they flip the script, I’ll be banging the under in their games.
The Pick: Tigers/Yankees under 9.5
