Tigers losing streak up to 10
The Detroit Tigers were just 1 game within the .500 mark last week and now they have lost 10 straight following a 3-2 loss at Toronto on Friday. Detroit is now 36-47 overall and 13-26 on the road. The Tigers are averaging just 4.01 runs per game on offense while allowing 4.74 per game on the mound.
The Tigers hand the ball to Matthew Boyd this afternoon. He is 4-6 on the season through 15 starts with a 4.15 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP. Boyd has pitched a total of 82.1 innings in 2018 and has 69 strikeouts with 33 walks.
Blue Jays a winning team at home
Toronto opened up the weekend series with the 3-2 victory to get themselves over the .500 hump at home. The Blue Jays are now 38-43 overall and 21-20 at home. The Blue Jays are putting up 4.48 runs per game on offense this year while allowing 4.89 per contest.
Sam Gaviglio gets the start for the Blue Jays on Saturday. He has started seven games this year and is 2-2 with a 3.98 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP. Gaviglio has pitched a total of 40.2 innings this year and has 40 strikeouts with 11 walks.
MLB Betting Trends
Detroit
The Tigers are just 2-10 in Boyd’s last 12 road starts overall and 0-5 in his last five road starts against a losing team.
Toronto
Toronto has won nine of its last 10 at home and they have won five straight home games against losing teams.
Prediction:
At one point, Boyd looked like possible trade potential for a contender, but he has given up 11 runs over his last seven innings of work. The Tigers are a mess right now. They need something to get them on track, but I don’t think Boyd will be able to give it to them today. Gaviglio has been earning a lot of strikeouts and working his ERA down. I will take my chances on Toronto handing Detroit another loss.
The Pick: Toronto Blue Jays -185
