Dodgers finalize deal with Kenley Jansen, are 14/1 to win 2017 World Series

Dodgers officially re-sign Jansen

The Dodgers have officially re-signed Kenley Jansen to a five-year, $80 million contract.

The deal was agreed upon back in December but Jansen still needed to take a physical and sign paperwork. Now that it’s official, Jensen can attempt to improve upon his brilliant 1.83 ERA, 0.67 WHIP and 104/11 strikeout-to-walk ratio across 68 2/3 innings last year. Along with Aroldis Chapman and Mark Melancon, Jensen was part of an offseason free agent class that was heavy on great closers.

There are still a handful of free agents that are still on the market that could have an impact on their new team. Jose Bautista could return to Toronto or perhaps move on to a team like the Texas Rangers. Luis Valbuena, the 31-year-old third baseman, could be a fit somewhere in the American League while catcher Matt Wieters is still looking for a job as well. Jason Hammel, meanwhile, could be a nice fit for a team like the Pittsburgh Pirates who need a back-end starter.
