Dodgers trade Kemp to Padres
LOS ANGELES, CA (The Spread) – The Dodgers have made a flood of moves at MLB’s winter meetings in San Diego, including agreeing to trade outfielder Matt Kemp.
According to Dennis Lin and Kirk Kenney of the San Diego Union-Tribune, the Dodgers have agreed to send Kemp and catcher Tim Federowicz to the Padres in exchange for catcher Yasmani Grandal, pitcher Joe Wieland and at least one other prospect. The Dodgers are also sending the Padres roughly $31 million to cover part of Kemp’s remaining $107 million in guaranteed salaries.
That’s not the only move the Dodgers have made over the past 24 hours, either. The club also sent second baseman Dee Gordon, pitcher Dan Haren, infielder Miguel Rojas and a player to be named later to the Marlins in exchange for lefty Andrew Heaney, infielder/outfielder Enrique Hernandez, catcher Austin Barnes and right-hander Chris Hatcher. Los Angeles is also reportedly paying all of Haren’s $10 million salary, as well as Gordon’s cost as well.
Finally, the Dodgers also acquired second baseman Howie Kendrick from the Angels in exchange for Heaney, whom they just got from the Marlins. While Kendrick is one year away from free agency, he offers a significant upgrade over Gordon at second base.
With all of these moves, oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv have removed the current 2015 World Series futures from their site. We’ll update the Dodgers’ Fall Classic odds once they’re re-posted.
