Tony Gonsolin yielded one run over three innings on Thursday in a win over the Nationals. Gonsolin took over in relief to begin the second inning after Victor González and Phil Bickford combined for three outs to open the contest. The 27-year-old righty was expected to throw roughly 75-to-80 pitches in this one, but departed after just 52 pitches over three innings. An RBI single from Starlin Castro in the fourth inning represented the lone tally against him. He finished with four strikeouts and also issued three walks. He’s compiled a solid 2.81 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 22/13 K/BB ratio across 16 innings (five appearances, four starts) this season. He’s lined up to face the Marlins in a road tilt on Tuesday in what could wind up being his final start before the All-Star break.
Miami Marlins DFS Spin
Jorge Alfaro went 2-for-4 with a homer Monday as the Marlins edged the Dodgers 5-4. Alfaro’s homer gave the Marlins back the lead in the eighth. It was just his third in 145 plate appearances this year. In fact, he hadn’t even driven in a run since June 10. There’s still some fantasy upside here, largely because of his ability to steal the occasional base, but he needs to hit the ball in the air more frequently in order to take advantage of his power.
Dodgers vs. Marlins Betting Prediction
The Dodgers are still 8-3 in their last 11 games versus the Marlins despite losing last night. They’re also 4-1 in their last five road games, are 36-15 in their last 51 games as a favorite and have cashed in 62 of their last 88 games as a road favorite. On the other side, the Marlins are just 2-5 in their last seven home games, are 1-4 in their last five games coming off a win and are 2-6 in their last eight games versus a right-handed starter.
