Tommy La Stella (Achilles) is expected to be activated from the 10-day injured list soon. La Stella’s impending return appears to be the catalyst behind the Giants’ decision Saturday to trade Mauricio Dubón, who was out of minor league options, to the Astros. The 33-year-old veteran infielder started a minor league rehab assignment earlier this week and launched a grand slam Friday evening for Triple-A Sacramento. It doesn’t seem like he’s going to be sidelined for much longer, folks.

Paul Goldschmidt went 1-for-4 with an RBI double Saturday as the Cardinals defeated the Giants. With Edmundo Sosa standing at first base in the bottom of the seventh, Goldschmidt lined a 100.9 mph double to center field, scoring Sosa and bringing the score to 3-0. He’s recorded a hit in seven straight games.
