Moore led his club to a 3-1 win over the Reds on Saturday by allowing just one run in 7 1/3 innings. He gave up eight hits and three walks while notching seven strikeouts. He threw 120 pitches in the outing in an effort to save the bullpen after last night’s 17 inning marathon. The one run he allowed came on a solo home run by Scott Schebler. Moore has been wildly inconsistent this season but got the job done well today. His record moves to 2-4 with a 5.67 ERA through eight starts. He has a 40/18 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 46 innings. The Cardinals skipped Wacha’s last turn in the rotation to give him some extra rest. The Cardinals were able to do that because of their scheduled off day on Thursday. Instead of starting Friday against the Cubs, Wacha will start tonight against the Giants. The right-hander has gotten off to a impressive start this year, going 2-1 with a 3.19 ERA over his first six outings.
