HOUSTON: McHugh was crushed in his last outing, taking a no-decision against the Orioles last Friday. He allowed six runs on nine hits in just three innings of work. He also walked one and struck out four while most of the damage came via the home run. Adam Jones, Manny Machado, Chris Davis and Mark Trumbo all left the yard in the first inning. He now owns a 4.99 ERA and a 1.52 WHIP.

PITTSBURGH: Cole gave up three runs over 6 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Marlins last Friday. He surrendered 12 hits for the second time in as many starts and allowed two home runs on the night. Cole hasn’t looked sharp of late, allowing 12 runs on 27 hits and eight walks over his last three starts.

OUR PICK: With both pitchers struggling, there’s no reason to lay the odds on the favorite, especially when the Pirates are just 2-8 in Cole’s last 10 starts. They’ve also dropped five of his last six starts at home and are winless at 0-7 in Cole’s last seven outings after scoring five runs or more in their previous game (the Bucs beat the Astros 7-1 on Tuesday night). At least the Astros are 5-0 in McHugh’s last five interleague starts.
