Royals fall again
The Royals lost their third straight game on Tuesday, suffering a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Tampa Bay. Kansas City is now 38-88 overall and 20-44 on the road. KC is putting up 3.65 runs per game on offense while allowing 5.40 per contest.
Jakob Junis gets the start for the Royals on Wednesday. He is making his 24th start of the season and comes in with a record of 6-11 overall, a 4.76 ERA and a 1.32 WHIP. Junis has 127 strikeouts and 40 walks over 132.1 innings of work.
Rays win third straight
The Rays had their third straight win come on Tuesday with the 4-1 win. They have allowed just one run over these three victories. Tampa is now 65-61 overall and 36-24 at home. The Rays are putting up 4.10 runs per game on offense while allowing 3.99 per contest.
Ryne Stanek gets the start for the Rays this evening. The reliever is starting for the 21st time and will be making his 43rd appearance overall. Stanek carries a 1-3 record with a 2.68 ERA and a 1.09 WHIP. He has 62 strikeouts and 21 walks over 50.1 innings of work.
MLB Betting Trends
Kansas City
The Royals are just 2-11 in Junis’ last 13 starts and they have lost his last eight starts against a winning team.
Tampa
The Rays have won five straight against a right-handed starter and 24 of their last 32 home games.
Prediction:
Tampa goes with the reliever to open the game and it has been working out pretty well recently. Stanek has settled into his role with the team and has been largely successful at it. The Royals are one of the worst hitting teams in baseball and I don’t see them lighting the Rays up tonight. Tampa’s bullpen is locked in. Junis may be able to make this game competitive, but I expect Tampa to manufacture some runs along the way.
The Pick: Tampa Bay Rays -185
