Angels trying to earn split
The Angels had some momentum coming into the weekend, but dropped the first two games of the series. They bounced back last night with an 11-7 win. Los Angeles is now 63-62 overall and 30-32 on the road. The Angels are putting up 4.63 runs per game on offense while allowing 4.30 per contest.
The Angels have Jaime Barria getting the start on Sunday. It will be his 19th start of the season and he comes in with an 8-7 record, a 3.50 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP. Barria has pitched 92.2 innings this year and has 71 strikeouts with 26 walks.
Rangers grind out opener
The Rangers have won three of their last five and been somewhat hot at the plate, scoring 21 runs in the three games of this series. Problem is, they also have given up 21. Texas is 55-70 overall with the win and 28-38 at home. The Rangers are scoring 4.86 runs per game on offense while giving up 5.31 per contest.
Bartolo Colon gets the start for the Rangers tonight. He is 7-10 through 22 starts with a 5.19 ERA and a 1.26 WHIP. Colon has pitched a total of 135.1 innings and has 75 strikeouts with 23 walks.
MLB Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Angels have won Barria’s last four starts, but they are just 10-22 in their last 32 road games.
Texas
The Rangers have won their last four against a right-handed starter, but they are just 11-23 in their last 34 against a team with a winning record.
Prediction:
While both teams have been hitting well, I think Barria has the ability to shut Texas down. He has a 0.82 ERA over two starts against the Rangers this year. Barria’s road numbers are actually stronger than his numbers at home as well. Colon has been worse at home and he has a 10.50 ERA in two starts against the Angels, which have both been brief. I think the Angels salvage the split today.
The Pick: Los Angeles Angels -105
