Kershaw shines in Game 2
Clayton Kershaw threw eight shutout innings as the Dodgers secured a 2-0 series lead with a 3-0 home win over Atlanta. He gave up two hits with three strikeouts and no walks. Kenley Jansen recorded the save as he allowed one hit and struck out one in one inning of work. Joc Pederson was 1-for-4 with a double and a run from the leadoff spot. Manny Machado was 1-for-4 as he hit a 2-run home run in the first inning to give LA the lead. Yasiel Puig went 1-for-2 with a walk. Yasmani Grandal finished 1-for-3 with a solo home run.
Braves held to three hits
Ronald Acuna Jr. was 2-for-4 with a double as the leadoff hitter in Friday’s loss at Los Angeles. The only other hit came courtesy of Ender Inciarte as he finished 1-for-3. Anibal Sanchez took the loss as he gave up three earned runs on five hits over 4 2/3 innings, striking out three and walking one.
Walker Buehler (8-5, 2.62 ERA) takes the hill tonight for the Dodgers, while the Braves are turning to Sean Newcomb (12-9, 3.90).
MLB Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Dodgers are 27-10 in their last 37 games overall. The under is 6-2-1 in the last nine LA road playoff games.
Atlanta
The over is 6-2 in the last eight Braves home games. Atlanta is 7-20 in its last 27 playoff games.
Prediction:
The Braves are probably due for a playoff win, but I don’t think it comes here. Los Angeles has the stronger starting pitcher on the mound and don’t expect a repeat performance of when Newcomb nearly no-hit the Dodgers at home back in August. He has been shaky the last couple months and I don’t see him excelling in a pressure situation today. Take the Dodgers tonight to finish off the sweep and go with the runline bet to get a better return.
