Dodgers, Kershaw to cruise past Mets?
This Dodgers-Mets series hasn’t lacked for drama. It’s only fitting, then, that the two bitter enemies conclude their three-game set in prime time.
A national television audience awaits tonight’s 8 p.m. ET duel between Clayton Kershaw and Bartolo Colon. Online sports book BetDSI gives the visitors odds of -240 to come out on top, while New York enters as a 1.5-run underdog. The over/under figure is 6.5 runs.

Practically everybody recalls Chase Utley’s brutal takeout slide of Ruben Tejada in the 2015 playoffs. Mets hurler Noah Syndergaard certainly did yesterday, whizzing a 99 mph heater behind the Los Angeles second baseman in the third inning. Plate umpire Adam Hamari jettisoned the stud righty on the spot, and the Dodgers went on to a 9-1 victory. Utley also got the final laugh by belting a homer in the sixth.
What type of fireworks will the follow-up produce? Kershaw (7-1, 1.48 ERA) should prefer to focus on capping off a preposterous May, in which he boasts 55 punchouts in 42 frames. Oh, and the perennial Cy Young winner’s last defeat occurred on April 26.

Needless to say, Colon (4-3, 3.44) faces a tall order. In his most recent outing, the 43-year-old yielded one run over seven innings in a 7-1 rout at Washington. He’s 1-2 with a 2.66 ERA at Citi Field this season.
Unfortunately, Colon won’t be able to rely on a number of his usual friends with lumber. Lucas Duda, Travis d’Arnaud and Wilmer Flores are hobbled for the Mets. David Wright could grab a seat on the bench, too, thanks to a neck issue. It all adds up to another Kershaw showstopper entering Memorial Day.
