Dodgers vs. Padres Prediction
The San Diego Padres were one out away from a home shutout last night, but still managed to claim a convincing win over the Los Angeles Dodgers. Will San Diego build off that victory and take tonight’s game as well?

Lauer nearly tosses complete-game shutout
San Diego rookie starting pitcher Eric Lauer was one out away from a shutout Tuesday night when he gave up a solo home run against the Dodgers, which ended his night in the 4-1 victory. Lauer one earned run on four hits with eight strikeouts and two walks over 8 2/3 innings to pick up the win. Wil Myers helped lead the Padres offense as he homered for the sixth time in the last four games, giving him eight for the season. Austin Hedges finished 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs.
Muncy continues stellar first half
Dodgers third baseman Max Muncy hit his 21st home run of the season in the top of the ninth inning Tuesday to break up the shutout. Rich Hill suffered the loss as he surrendered four earned runs on eight hits with seven strikeouts and a walk over seven innings to take the loss.
Kenta Maeda (5-5, 3.24 ERA) will start today for Arizona, while San Diego turns to Joey Lucchesi (4-4, 3.27).
MLB Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The over is 15-6 in the last 21 Dodgers road games. Los Angeles is 33-16 in its last 49 games overall.
San Diego
The Padres are 6-16 in their last 22 games overall. The over is 12-5 in the last 17 meetings.
Prediction:
If Maeda could ever develop some consistency, he’d be one of the better pitchers in the game. When he has a feel for all his pitches and is throwing strikes, he can ease through a lineup. Maeda will have the benefit of another pitcher’s park and a weak lineup, although he might want to avoid Myers at all costs right now. I’m going to take the Dodgers to win tonight, although Lucchesi has been solid for San Diego and the under could be a decent play as well if you want to go that route.
