Who wins Blue Jays-Dodgers interleague finale?
Clayton Kershaw put the Dodgers in position to capture their first series win since April 22-24. The task of making that a reality, however, falls to a far less proven hurler.
Ross Stripling gets the call at 1:07 p.m. ET as Los Angeles attempts to defeat Toronto for a second straight afternoon. Oddsmakers at online sports book Bovada.lv like the Blue Jays, though, as 1.5-run favorites in the finale. The over/run total sits at nine.
Buoyed by a 10-strikeout performance by the game’s pre-eminent lefty, the Dodgers claimed a 6-2 victory yesterday. It marked the AL East stalwarts’ first loss in five contests. They managed to scratch out merely a pair of tallies against Kershaw, with Josh Donaldson, Jose Bautista and Edwin Encarnacion combining to go 2 for 12.
The 26-year-old Stripling presents a different look in several hours. He surrendered five runs across 4 2/3 innings in a 5-2 defeat to San Diego on April 30, failing to advance past the fifth for the second time in three starts. The rookie continues to experience particular trouble the second time through an order.

On the other side, Marco Estrada’s 1-2 record believes how well he has thrown through five assignments. After allowing a leadoff homer earlier in the week vs. Texas, he allowed just one additional base knock during the rest of that outing. The righty only receives 1.76 runs of support per tilt.
That’s likely to change here. We can’t buy the Dodgers’ offense yet, whereas Toronto is legitimate in every way at the dish. Bank on John Gibbons’ 16-16 club to soar above .500 again.
