Manny Suspended
Manny Ramirez has been suspended for 50 games by Major League Baseball, becoming by far the highest-profile player ensnared in the sport’s drug scandals.
Bet 2009 World Series Future Odds
Oddsmakers from online sports book SPORTSBETTING.COM currently list the Los Angeles Dodgers’ odds to win the 2009 World Series at 7/1. But without Manny Ramirez in their lineup for over a third of the season, those odds might go up.
If the Dodgers’ odds do go up from 7/1, it might be wise to jump on the inflated odds because Los Angeles still plays in a weak NL West Division and Ramirez will be back for the second half.
The commissioner’s office didn’t announce the specific violation by the Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder, who will lose about one-third of his $25 million salary. Ramirez claims that he visited a physician in Florida that prescribed him a drug for a medical issue, although it isn’t yet known if those claims are true.
After beating the Washington Nationals on Wednesday night, the Dodgers improved to 13-0 at home this year. They also have the best record in baseball at 21-8 and have a 6.5-game lead of the San Francisco Giants in the NL West.
