Seattle Mariners DFS SPIN
Mariners president of baseball operations Jerry Dipoto told reporters on Saturday that Logan Gilbert is likely to start Game 1 of the ALDS against the Astros. While it’s not official yet, that does seem to be the most likely scenario. Dipoto also indicated that Luis Castillo would then get the ball in Game 2, with Robbie Ray presumably working in the third game. The ALDS is set to begin on Tuesday in Houston.
Houston Astros DFS SPIN
Astros manager Dusty Baker confirmed Saturday that Justin Verlander will start in Game 1 of the ALDS. Not like there was any doubt, but Baker officially named his ace — and the likely American League Cy Young award winner — as his starter when the Astros postseason begins in Houston on Tuesday. Verlander is coming off of perhaps his most exceptional season to date — after undergoing Tommy John surgery after only one start in 2020 and missing the entire 2021 campaign while recovering — he went 18-4 with a 1.75 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 185/29 K/BB ratio over 175 innings in 28 starts. Whether it’s the Mariners or Blue Jays that advance out of their Wild Card series, they’ll have their hands full in Game 1 of the ALDS on Tuesday
