Starling Marte is undergoing an MRI on his left quad. Marte departed Tuesday night’s loss to the Padres after experiencing tightness in his upper left leg while attempting to steal second base in the top of the first inning. Mets manager Buck Showalter hinted after the game that there is some concern. Look for an update on the veteran outfielder’s status come Wednesday. Pete Alonso is also being sent for imaging scans after getting hit on his right hand by a pitch. The initial X-rays turned up negative.

Jake Cronenworth went 1-for-3 with a two-run single, a walk and a run scored in Tuesday’s win over the Mets. Cronenworth helped the Padres out to a 4-0 advantage with his two-run single off of Taijuan Walker in the bottom of the second inning. Overall this season, the 28-year-old infielder is working to a .216/.303/.347 triple-slash with five homers and 28 RBI in 55 games (213 at-bats). Coming up clutch of late, he has posted nine RBI over his last four games.

On the other side, the Padres are just 2-6 in their last eight home games versus a right-handed starter and are 10-21 in their last 31 games versus a team with a winning percentage above .600.
