Marlins pound out 17 hits in win

Miami recorded 17 hits Wednesday night in its 11-3 victory at St. Louis, including four each by the top two hitters in its lineup. Starlin Castro went 4-for-6 with three doubles and three runs scored from the top of the order. No. 2 hitter Derek Dietrich finished 4-for-5 with a home run, two runs and three RBIs. J.T. Realmuto went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs and an RBI. Brian Anderson was 1-for-4 with a double, a walk, a run and two RBIs. Lewis Brinson was 3-for-5 with two solo home runs. Drew Rucinski earned the win in relief as he allowed one earned run on two hits with two strikeouts and no walks over 2 1/3 innings.

Martinez has perfect day at plate

Despite the defeat by eight runs, Cardinals first baseman Jose Martinez did his best to keep his team in the game by going 3-for-3 at the dish with a double and a walk plus two RBIs. Tommy Pham was 2-for-4 with a run. Jack Flaherty suffered the loss as he gave up six runs (four earned) on eight hits with six strikeouts and one walk.

Trevor Richards (0-2, 4.91 ERA) will start today for the Marlins, while the Cardinals are going with Miles Mikolas (6-1, 2.49).

MLB Betting Trends

Miami

The Marlins are 6-22 in their last 28 Thursday games. Miami is 17-35 in its last 52 road games.

St. Louis

The under is 7-3 in the last 10 Cardinals home games. The over is 19-7-1 in the last 27 meetings.

Prediction:

There is no way the Cardinals get swept at home by the Marlins, right? Once again St. Louis sends the better starting pitcher to the mound, will be equipped with the better lineup and will be at home. I’m going to take the heavy favorites once again hope for the best. It’s hard to trust Miami even after the last two performances.
