Quintana brilliant in win
Cubs lefty Jose Quintana threw 6 2/3 shutout innings last night in a 3-0 home win over Milwaukee as he gave up three hits with seven strikeouts and two walks. Pedro Strop picked up his 13th save as he threw a spotless inning with one strikeout Javier Baez finished 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored to help lead the offense. Victor Caratini went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.
Brewers held to three hits
Lorenzo Cain and Jesus Aguilar both finished 1-for-4 in yesterday’s defeat for the Brewers. The lone other hit was by Hernan Perez with a pinch-hit single. Jhoulys Chacin took the loss as he allowed two runs (one earned) on one hit with five strikeouts and one walk over five innings.
Chase Anderson (9-7, 3.95 ERA) will start today for Milwaukee, while Chicago counters with Kyle Hendricks (11-10, 3.71).
MLB Betting Trends
Milwaukee
The under is 13-6-1 in Anderson’s last 20 road starts. The under is 22-6 in the last 28 meetings.
Chicago
The Cubs are 7-1 in Hendricks’ last eight starts. Chicago is 43-21 in its last 65 home games.
Prediction:
Hendricks has pitched very well during the second half of the season and while Anderson is typically good against the Cubs, I don’t think he’ll have enough in the tank today. With Hendricks providing a much different look than Quintana, look for Milwaukee’s offense to struggle again as the Cubs take another one.
