Brewers have four-game win streak snapped
Milwaukee lost by a count of 10-8 Tuesday night at Houston to drop to 38-29 overall and 16-16 on the road. The Brewers scored once in the top of the eighth and three in the ninth before their comeback attempt ultimately fell short. Yasmani Grandal ended the contest 3-for-5 with a home run, a double and four RBIs to pace the offense. Travis Shaw was 1-for-3 with a home run, a walk and two RBIs. Christian Yelich was 3-for-5 with a solo homer, a double and two runs scored. Freddy Peralta took the loss as he surrendered six earned runs on eight hits with seven strikeouts and one walk over four innings. Brandon Woodruff will start today for Milwaukee as he enters with an 8-1 record, 3.87 ERA and 1.17 WHIP with 90 strikeouts over 74 1/3 innings.
Alvarez homers again in win
Yordan Alvarez homered for the second straight game to begin his MLB career Tuesday night to help Houston to a 10-8 home win over Milwaukee. He finished the contest 1-for-3 with the home run, a walk, two runs and two RBIs. Robinson Chirinos went 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Michael Brantley was 2-for-4 with a triple, a double and two runs scored. Tyler White went 1-for-3 with a home run, a walk and two RBIs. Yuli Gurriel was 3-for-5 with a home run, a double, two and three RBIs. Brad Peacock picked up the win as he gave up four earned runs on seven hits with four strikeouts and one walk over 6 1/3 innings. Justin Verlander will start tonight for the Astros as he comes in with a 9-2 record, 2.31 ERA and 0.74 WHIP with 110 strikeouts over 93 2/3 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
Milwaukee
The Brewers are 1-5 in their last six interleague games. Milwaukee is 4-0 in the last four Woodruff road starts.
Houston
The Astros are 38-15 in their last 53 home games. Houston is 7-0 in the last seven Verlander home starts.
Prediction:
Verlander on a line this short seems like a misprint these days. While Milwaukee has a tough lineup to navigate through, Verlander can shut down the best baseball has to offer and often rises to the occasion when facing an elite offense. While Woodruff has been very good over the last two months, I think he’ll give up enough against a powerful Houston offense without enough run support to make up for it.
