Brewers avoid being swept
Milwaukee avoided being swept at home by the Phillies this weekend, picking up a 9-1 win on Sunday. Still, the Brewers are just 2-3 in their last five. Milwaukee is 30-24 on the season, 12-13 on the road and 31-22 with the under. Gio Gonzalez is starting today. He is 2-1 on the season with a 2.39 ERA.
The Brewers are averaging 4.91 runs per game on offense while hitting .249 as a team. On the mound, Milwaukee has a 4.33 team ERA and a 1.31 team WHIP. Christian Yelich is leading the team with seven doubles, 21 home runs and 43 RBI while Mike Moustakas has 13 doubles, 13 home runs and 32 RBI.
Twins on fire
Minnesota is riding a six-game winning streak right now following a dominant sweep of the White Sox in which the Twins outscored them 26-5 over three games. Minnesota is now 36-16 on the season, 18-8 at home and 27-24 with the over. The Twins have Michael Pineda on the mound. He is 4-3 on the season with a 5.43 ERA.
The Twins have the league’s best offense. They are averaging 6.06 runs per game while hitting .273 as a team. They also lead the league in home runs with 104. On the mound, Minnesota has a 3.70 team ERA and a 1.24 team WHIP. Eddie Rosario is leading the team with 16 home runs and 45 RBI while CJ Cron has 13 home runs and 34 RBI.
MLB Betting Trends
Milwaukee
The Brewers have won six straight against AL Central opponents and 19 of their last 26 Monday games.
Minnesota
The Twins have won five of their last six series openers and seven of their last eight home games against a winning team.
Prediction:
The Twins are just rolling on offense and today they will need it, as Pineda has given up at least three runs in eight straight starts. Gonzalez hasn’t gotten deep into games, but has taken minimal damage. Still, I think his lack of getting deep into his starts will be the issue. Minnesota can really hit the ball and if they don’t get to Gio, I think they will get to the bullpen. Milwaukee doesn’t have the same hitting ability and Minnesota’s pen is a lot stronger.
MLB Prediction: Minnesota Twins -115
