Twins Season Odds
The Minnesota Twins are hoping that the back injury of catcher Joe Mauer won’t derail what could be a nice season in 2009.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SBG Global have made the Twins 24/1 long shots to win the 2009 World Series and established their American League Pennant odds at 14/1.
A lot of Minnesota’s success in 2009 will depend on the health status of catcher Joe Mauer. His back alignments landed him on the disabled list to start the season, but if he doesn’t linger there too long, the Twins should challenge the Indians and White Sox in the AL Central this season.
This club won 88 games last year and considering they virtually have the same roster as last season, it’s hard to believe they won’t sniff 90 wins again this year. They boast some young talent in Jason Kubel, Carlos Gomez and Denard Span. Along with Mauer, Justin Morneau and Joe Crede give Minnesota some quality veteran bats in the middle of their lineup.
At 24/1 odds, the Twins are a nice, safe pick to win this year’s World Series. Many bettors will pass on them with Mauer being hurt, but considering he’s supposed to come back to the lineup well before the All-Star Break, Minnesota is a nice value pick right now.
