Indians try to turn back upstart Twins
After a rare misfire for one of their trusty flamethrowers, the Indians are primed to rebound in a major way tonight.
Cleveland, armed with a shiny new toy in the bullpen, hosts Minnesota at 7:10 p.m. ET. Online sports book BetDSI gives the Tribe odds of -220 to seize the second game of the set. Paul Molitor’s Twins, on the other hand, enter as +180 underdogs. The over/under run figure rests at eight.

Terry Francona’s club slipped up yesterday, 12-5, as Danny Salazar got torched for six earned runs in two innings. The righty’s already been pardoned, though, thanks to general manager Mike Chernoff’s splash at the trade deadline. Cleveland snagged Andrew Miller from the Yankees in exchange for four prospects. The All-Star reliever boasts 16 holds, nine saves, 77 strikeouts and a 0.79 WHIP across 45 2/3 frames this season.
Before Miller can make his Progressive Field debut, of course, Francona needs a solid effort from Carlos Carrasco. Most recently, the veteran hurler permitted three runs to the National League East-leading Nationals. He is 2-5 with a 4.02 ERA in 11 career clashes against Minnesota.
Rather remarkably, the Twins have won four of five. In the series opener, Max Kepler powered a 19-hit attack. The rookie outfielder jacked three homers, pushing his 2016 total to 14 in 230 plate appearances. First baseman Joe Mauer added four base knocks.

Neither individual should taste close to as much success vs. Carrasco. The atmosphere in northern Ohio will be absolutely electric, and the Indians promise to feed off the positive vibe. Look for them to extend that AL Central lead even further.
