Twins go with Berrios
Minnesota completed the regular season with a 101-61 overall record including 55-26 on the road. The Twins will send Jose Berrios to the mound tonight after he went 14-8 with a 3.68 ERA and 1.22 WHIP plus 195 strikeouts over 200 1/3 innings during the regular season. Nelson Cruz helps lead the Minnesota offense as he recorded a slash line of .311/.392/1.031 during the regular season. Also major contributed to the Twins offense are Mitch Garver (.273/.365/.995), Miguel Sano (.247/.346/.923), Max Kepler (.252/.336/.855) and Jorge Polanco (.295/.356/.841). Taylor Rogers (69IP, 90K, 2.61 ERA, 1.00 WHIP) anchors the bullpen.
Yankees turn to Paxton
New York went 103-59 overall and 57-24 at home during the regular season. Left-hander James Paxton draws the start tonight for the Yankees as he comes in with a 15-6 record, 3.82 ERA and 1.28 WHIP plus 186 strikeouts across 150 2/3 innings pitched. Aroldis Chapman highlights a strong bullpen as he registered a 2.21 ERA and 1.11 WHIP during the regular season with 85 strikeouts over 57 innings. Aaron Judge led the New York offense with a slash line of .272/.381/.921 over 378 at-bats. D.J. LeMahieu (.327/.375/.893), Gio Urshela (.314/355/889), Gleyber Torres (.278/.337/.871), Luke Voit (.263/.378/.842), Gary Sanchez (.232/.316/.841) and Brett Gardner (.251/325/.806) are also part of the powerful lineup.
MLB Betting Trends
Minnesota
The Twins are 6-1 in their last seven games overall. Minnesota is 0-6 in its last seven playoff road games.
New York
The Yankees are 5-0 in the last five Paxton home starts. New York is 7-2 in its last nine playoff home games.
Prediction:
The Yankees have pummeled the Twins in previous playoff series’, but I expect this one to go at least four if not five games. If Minnesota is to make it a series, a win here would be huge. Berrios has settled back in after a bit of a rought stretch, while I think the matchup against Paxton can be exploited as the Twins have some lefty mashers and will be playing in a home run haven. New York will probably get at least one win at home this weekend, but I love this opportunity for Minnesota to steal the opener.
