Saturday MLB Opening Odds
(The Spread) – Now that the Boston Red Sox are no longer winless, can they now put together a winning streak as they continue their series with the rival New York Yankees?
The Red Sox finally won a game Friday afternoon, in their home opener at Fenway Park no less, as they put a six-game losing skid to rest with a 9-6 victory over the New York Yankees. Boston will try to make it two in a row today with a 1:00PM EST start versus New York.
According to online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com, Boston is a -146 favorite in the contest and the over-under is set at 10. Clay Buchholz (0-1, 5.68 ERA) gets the start for the Red Sox, while Ivan Nova (1-0, 4.50 ERA) takes the hill for the Yankees.
Boston not only covered the runline in Friday’s game, but also put up nine of the 15 runs scored to almost single-handedly cover the over-under of 10 by itself. That outburst came a day after the Red Sox were shut out 1-0 in Cleveland for their sixth straight defeat.
In other MLB action, the Atlanta Braves host the Philadelphia Phillies at 1:00PM EST. Both teams have a moneyline of -105 and the over-under is 7.5. The Chicago Cubs are at the Milwaukee Brewers at 7:00PM EST. Milwaukee is a -107 favorite with an over-under of 8.5. St. Louis continues its series at San Francisco at 10:00PM EST. The Giants are a -152 favorite and the over-under is 6.5.
In the American League, the Tampa Bay Rays earned their first win of the season Friday and will attempt for another win over the Chicago White Sox at 4:00PM EST. Chicago is a -122 favorite, while the over-under is 9. Minnesota is home against Oakland at 7:00PM EST. Both squads have a line of -105 and the over-under is listed at 8.
