Friday MLB Opening Odds
(The Spread) – The lines are out for Friday’s MLB action, including Game 1 of a new series between the Yankees and Angels.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog have made the Angels –159 money line favorites over the visiting Yankees, whoa re +149 on the ML. The over/under total for this game is currently 7.5 runs.
According to latest MLB trends, the over is 5-1-1 in Jered Weaver’s last seven starts against the Yankees and 4-1 in the last five overall meetings between these two teams. The over is also 18-7-1 in the last 26 meetings between these two teams when the game is played in Los Angeles and the Yankees are just 8-21 in their last 29 games in L.A.
The Yankees will send Ivan Nova to the hill on Friday in attempts to win their fifth-straight game. He’s 4-3 on the year with a 4.67 ERA over 54 innings and is coming off two-straight no decisions. In his last outing, he went just 3.2 innings allowing four runs on five hits.
The Detroit Tigers are also looking to win their fifth straight when they visit the Chicago White Sox at 8:10PM ET. The Tigers opened as +125 money line favorite but the line has moved to Detroit +131. The White Sox, who will start Mark Buehrle, are –139 money line favorites in this contest.
In the National League, the Houston Astros are on a little bit of a roll, winning their last three games. They could get back to .500 with a victory over the San Diego Padres, who are –124 on the money line.
NL West rivals will square off in the City by the Bay when the San Francisco Giants host the Colorado Rockies at 10:15PM ET. Matt Cain will start for the Giants, who are –133 money line favorites and will look to win their third in a row. (They’re coming off a successful road trip, going 4-3 after losing star catcher Buster Posey.)
