Thursday MLB Opening Odds
(The Spread) – Will the Red Sox stay hot? Will the A’s ever win another game? Check out the opening lines for Thursday’s action in Major League Baseball.
The Red Sox smacked the Yankees 11-6 on Wednesday to win their second-straight game against their most hated rivals and their fifth in a row overall. But even given their recent hot streak, oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog have made Boston a +105 underdog for Game 3 against New York on Thursday. It figures to be a great pitching matchup as Josh Beckett will take on CC Sabathia.
Now that the Cubs finally won a game, no team is playing worse than the Oakland A’s right now. They dropped their ninth straight game on Wednesday, a 3-2 defeat at the hands of the Orioles. The A’s will look to change around their massive misfortune when they take on the White Sox tonight at 8:10PM ET. Chicago is a –109 money line favorite, while Oakland is +103 on the ML.
Another team that has really struggled lately is the Florida Marlins, who lost their seventh-straight game on Wednesday. After the Braves beat the Fish 3-2 in extra innings yesterday, Atlanta is now –131 against Florida (+123) for Thursday’s game.
Even though every game is a nail bitter, the Giants continue to win. According to latest MLB trends, the defending champs are 7-3 in their last 10 games but face a tough challenge on Thursday night when the Reds come to town. Johnny Cueto will take on Madison Bumgarner, who has received little to no run support this year.
