Tuesday MLB Opening Odds
(The Spread) – Several marquee divisional matchups will take place in baseball starting on Tuesday. Check out the opening odds for those games.
Boston will travel to Tampa Bay on Tuesday to take on their AL East counterparts, the Rays. Despite their current nine-game winning streak, oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog have made the visiting Red Sox +110 on the money line against the Rays, who are –120 on the ML. The pitching matchup for this game will feature Tim Wakefield against James Shields.
Also in the AL, the Indians and Tigers will battle for first place in the Central when the two teams kick off a new series in Detroit. In tonight’s game, Justin Verlander and the Tigers are –175 money line favorites over the Indians, who are +165 on the ML.
In the National League, the Giants own a half-game lead over the Diamondbacks in the West. The two teams will start a new series at 9:40PM ET and for Game 1, host Arizona is –115 money line favorites over San Francisco, who is +105. According to latest MLB trends, the Giants are 5-0 in Matt Cain’s last five starts against the Diamondbacks and are 9-1 in their last 10 meetings with Arizona overall.
Two teams currently heading in opposite directions will square off in Philadelphia at 7:05PM ET as the Phillies host the Marlins. Florida has lost three in a row and finds itself as +187 money line underdogs against Philadelphia, who is –205 on Tuesday night and is looking for its fourth straight victory.
