Friday MLB Opening Odds
(The Spread) – The Rays and Giants continue to keep their playoff hopes alive, while the Red Sox and Brewers continue to struggle.
Boston has now lost nine of its last 11 games and only leads Tampa Bay by three games in the race for the American League Wild Card spot. But they’ll have Josh Beckett on the hill for tonight’s 7:10PM ET tilt against the Rays, who are +140 on the money line for Friday’s game in Boston (-150).
In the National League, the Brewers still hold a 5.5 game lead over the Cardinals in the Central, but they’ve lost six of their last 10 games. Milwaukee will travel to Cincinnati at 7:10PM ET tonight, where the Reds are –115 money line favorites. The Brewers are 3-14 in their last 17 road games against Cincinnati, while the Reds are 4-1 in Bronson Arroyo’s last five starts versus Milwaukee.
Meanwhile, the Giants are still 7 games back of the Diamondbacks in the NL West but they’ve won five in a row and their stagnant offense has finally woken up (although it’s probably two little, too late). San Francisco is a –125 money line favorite in Colorado tonight at 8:10PM ET, while the Rockies are +115 on the ML.
Speaking of the Diamondbacks, they’ll travel to San Diego tonight, where they’re +110 money line underdogs against the Padres (-120). According to latest MLB trends, the D-Backs are 4-12 in their last 16 road games against the Padres but 6-1 in their last seven games against San Diego overall.
