Monday MLB Opening Odds
(The Spread) – The Florida Marlins are the talk of the baseball world at the moment, although for all the wrong reasons.
On the day their manager Edwin Rodriguez resigned, the Marlins lost their 10th straight game of the season in 2-1 affair against the Rangers. They’re now 12.5 games behind the Phillies in the NL East and are currently sitting in dead last.
The Fish will look to rebound on Monday when they host the Los Angeles to kick off another set of Interleague games. Oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog have made the Marlins +110 money line underdogs against the visiting Halos, who are –120 on the ML. According to latest MLB trends, L.A. is 4-1 in its last five games against Florida, so the Marlins’ woes may only continue.
Also on Monday, the Cincinnati Reds will host the New York Yankees at 7:10PM ET. The Reds are –125 money line favorites while the Yankees are +118 on the ML. The under is 5-1 in the last six meetings between these two teams.
The Bronx Bombers’ AL East rivals the Red Sox will host the Padres at 7:10PM ET. Boston opened as –190 money line favorites, while San Diego is +180 on the ML. The under is 8-1 in the last nine meetings between these two teams, while the Padres are 2-5 in their last seven games against the Sox.
The Windy City Showdown will resume on Monday when Carlos Zambrano and the Cubs visit Gavin Floyd and the White Sox at 8:10PM ET. The Cubs are +125 on the money line, while the Sox are –135. The under is 4-1 in the last five meetings between these two teams and 5-2 in the last seven meetings when the Sox host.
