MLB Monday Opening Odds
(The Spread) – With only three games remaining in the regular season, the Wild Card races in both leagues will go down to the wire.
Thanks to their win in the 14th inning on Sunday night against the Yankees, the Red Sox managed to keep a one-game lead over the Rays in the AL Wild Card standings. Josh Beckett and Boston will hit the road tonight at 7:05PM ET, where the Red Sox are –225 money line favorites over the Orioles.
The Rays, meanwhile, will take on the Yankees at Tropicana Field at 7:10PM ET. According to latest MLB trends, the Rays are 1-4 in James Shields’ last five starts versus the Yankees, who are 4-1 in their last five games against Tampa Bay.
In the National League, the Atlanta Braves have managed to squander a 9.5-game lead and are now only one-game ahead of the Cardinals in the Wild Card race. The Braves have lost two in a row and now face Cliff Lee and the Phillies at 7:10PM ET. The odds for this game haven’t been released.
The Cardinals, meanwhile, will head to Houston to play the Astros at 8:05PM ET. St. Louis is a –152 money line favorite with Jaime Garcia on the hill, while the Astros are +143 on the ML. Wandy Rodriguez will take the hill for Houston.
