Thursday MLB Opening Odds
(The Spread) – A handful of clubs are back in action on Thursday when Major League Baseball kicks off its second half.
AL East rivals clash in Toronto when the Blue Jays host the Yankees at 7:07PM ET. With Bartolo Colon on the hill, the Bombers are –139 money line favorites over the Blue Jays, who will start Jo-Jo Reyes. According to latest MLB trends, the Yankees are 4-1 in their last five games against the Jays, while the over is 3-1-1 in the last five meetings between these two teams.
In the AL West, the Mariners will host the Rangers at 10:10PM ET. Oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog have made Seattle a +106 money line underdog against visiting Texas, which is –113 on the ML. The Rangers are 5-2 in the last seven meetings between these two teams, while the M’s are just 2-5 in Jason Vargas’ last seven starts against Texas.
In the National League, the Padres are –108 money line favorites against the Giants, who are +102 on the ML. The over is 4-1 in the last five meetings between these two teams, but the under is 12-5 in the last 17 meetings in San Diego, as well as 4-1 in Madison Bumgarner’s last five starts against the Padres.
Meanwhile, the Rockies are –135 money line favorites against the visiting Brewers, who are +127 on the ML. The Brewers are 4-1 in the last five meetings between these two teams, but are 0-5 in Yovani Gallardo last five starts against Colorado.
