Thursday MLB Opening Odds
(The Spread) – There are only five games on the MLB schedule for Thursday, but there are some good matchups.
The Phillies and Cardinals have both opened as –105 on the money line for their matchup on Thursday. The pitching matchup for this one figures to be pretty decent, as Roy Oswalt will take on Chris Carpenter, who is 1-7 with a 4.47 ERA but figures to snap out of his funk at some point.
According to online sports book Bodog, the A’s have opened as +125 money line underdogs against the Mets, who are –135 on the ML on Thursday. Current trends show that the over is 4-1 in the last five meetings between these two teams, while the A’s are 1-4 in their last five games against the Mets.
Tim Lincecum will be on the hill for the Giants on Thursday as they host the Twins at 3:45PM ET. The Giants are 5-1 in Lincecum’s last six starts with the total set at 6.5 or lower and 6-2 in his last eight interleague starts.
The team that the defending champs are battling in the NL West, the Diamondbacks, are –115 on the money line against the Royals, who are +105 on the ML. The D-Backs are 5-1 in their last six road games at Kansas City, while the over is 8-2-1 in the last 11 meetings between these two teams overall.
