Tuesday MLB Opening Odds
(The Spread) – The opening odds are out for Tuesday’s baseball games, including Game 1 of a huge series between the Giants and Phillies.
It’ll be a rematch of the 2010 NLCS when the Giants visit the Phillies at 7:05PM ET. Despite Tim Lincecum being on the hill for San Fran, oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog have made the Giants +100 money line underdogs against Philadelphia, which is –110 on the ML. The Giants are 5-2 in the last seven meetings between these two teams but just 7-15 in their last 22 road games against the Phillies.
In other MLB action, the Braves will host the Pirates at 7:10PM ET. Atlanta has opened as –175 money line favorites over Pittsburgh, which is +165 on the ML. According to latest MLB trends, the under is 4-1-1 in the last six meetings between these two teams in Atlanta and 34-15-2 in the last 51 meetings overall.
In the American League, Central division rivals the Tigers (-145) and White Sox (+135) will square off at 8:10PM ET when Justin Verlander takes on Jake Peavy. The Tigers are 7-1 in their last eight road games against Chicago and 7-1 in Verlander’s last eight starts against the White Sox.
Also in the AL, the Yankees will host the disastrous Mariners at 7:05PM ET. Seattle dropped its 16th-straight game on Monday night in embarrassing fashion, losing 10-3 to the Bombers. Things won’t get any easier for the M’s tonight when they face CC Sabathia.
