Tuesday MLB Opening Odds
(The Spread) – The Twins and A’s look to stay hot while the Marlins and Giants hope to end recent skids when MLB action continues on Tuesday.
The Minnesota Twins are the hottest team in baseball right now after winning seven straight games. They take on an opponent in the San Francisco Giants who is on a four-game losing streak and is coming off a sweep at the hands of the A’s.
Despite their current winning streak, oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog have made the Twins +140 money line underdogs against the host Giants, who are –150 on the ML. According to latest MLB trends, the Twins are 14-2 in their last 16 games overall and 6-1 in their last seven road games. That said, Minnesota will have to do without Jason Kubel and Denard Span, who will miss the series due to injuries.
One of the other hot teams in the American League is the previously mentioned Oakland A’s, who have won five-straight. The A’s will visit the Big Apple on Tuesday when they take on the Mets, who are –135 money line favorites over Oakland (+125). The A’s are 0-4 in their last four games against the Mets and will face a tough foe in starter Dillon Gee (7-0, 2.86 ERA).
The Marlins have turned to a familiar face in 80-year-old Jack McKeon, who was appointed their new manage on Monday. McKeon inherits a team in a 2-22 tailspin and one that has dropped 11-straight games. Florida finds itself +120 home dogs against the Angels on Tuesday, while L.A. is –130 on the ML.
The Windy City Showdown also continues on Tuesday, as the White Sox are –125 money line favorites over the visiting Cubs, who are +115 on the ML. The Cubs are 2-7 in their last nine meetings against the White Sox and 1-4 in their last five trips across town.
