(The Spread) – A couple of National League underdogs and the over in the Rays-Blue Jays are featured in today’s edition of MLB Betting Best Value Plays.
Tampa Bay Rays (+132) vs. Toronto Blue Jays (-140), 7:07PM ET
The over is 3-0-1 in Jeff Niemann’s last four road starts versus the Blue Jays and 6-1-2 in his last nine starts overall against Toronto. The over is also 8-3-1 in the last 12 meetings between these two teams in Toronto and 5-1 in the Blue Jays’ last six games when they’re favored.
Value Play: Over 8
Both the Mets and the under represent value based on the trends. The Mets are 5-0 in their last five games versus the Braves and 6-2 in their last eight games in Atlanta. The under, meanwhile, is 6-0 in Johan Santana’s last six road starts versus the Braves and 10-1 in his last 11 outings overall versus Atlanta. The under is also 8-3-1 in the last 12 meetings between these two teams in Atlanta.
Value Play: Mets (-102) and Under 7
Even though the Cubs have lost seven of their first 10 games to start the season, they represent some value with Ryan Dempster on the hill tonight versus the Marlins. Chicago is 4-1 in Dempster’s last five starts versus the Marlins while the Cubs are 5-0 in their last five meetings with Miami and 7-3 overall in their last 10 games versus the Fish. The Marlins are also 2-5 in Josh Johnson’s last seven starts during Game 1 of a series.
Value Play: Chicago Cubs +146
San Diego Padres (+110) vs. Colorado Rockies (-117), 8:40PM ET
The Padres are 4-0 in their last four games in Colorado and 5-0 in their last five meetings versus the Rockies overall. Colorado, meanwhile, is 3-11 in its last 14 home games and 2-7 in its last nine games as a home favorite. The Rockies are also 1-4 in their last five Tuesday games and 2-8 in their last 10 games with the total set between 9.0 and 10.5 runs.
