The featured game of the day has the Houston Astros (80-73) hosting the Texas Rangers (83-69) at 8PM ET. The Astros have Scott Kazmir (7-10, 2.73 ERA) on the mound to face Yancy Gallardo (12-11, 3.41) of the Rangers. The Rangers have a 3.5-game lead on Houston in the AL West. According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Astros are favored at home, as they are getting odds of -130 to win, while the Rangers are getting a money line of +120 to win. The over/under total for the game has been set at 8 runs. Texas has won seven straight over Houston this year and the two have pushed or hit the over in four straight meetings.

The Chicago Cubs (89-63) host the Pittsburgh Pirates (93-60) in the anticipated NL Wild Card game. The Cubs have Jon Lester (10-11, 3.46) on the mound to face Gerrit Cole (17-8, 2.64) of the Pirates. Oddsmakers have the Cubs as the favorite to win this game, as they are getting odds of -115 to win, while the Pirates are getting a money line of +105 to prevail. The over/under total for the game has yet to be set. The Pirates have won 7 of their last 8 against the Cubs when Cole starts and 10 of their last 11 of Cole’s starts in general.

Another game of note has the Kansas City Royals (89-63) hosting the Cleveland Indians (75-76) at 8:10PM ET. The Royals have Edinson Volquez (13-8, 3.62) on the mound to face Carlos Carrasco (13-11, 3.62) of the Indians. Oddsmakers have Cleveland as a -115 favorite on the road, while the Royals have odds of +105 to win at home. The over/under total for the game has been set at 7.5 runs. The Royals have already clinched the AL Central while Cleveland is 4 games out of the Wild Card race. The Royals have won 7 of Volquez’ last 8 home starts and these two are 12-5-1 with the over in their last 18 meetings.
