The Texas Rangers (87-74) get one last chance at locking up the AL West today when they host the Los Angeles Angels (85-76) at 3PM ET. The Rangers have a one game lead on the Astros entering the day in the AL West, so a win or Houston loss will lock up the title. If Houston wins and Texas loses, a playoff will have to determine the division winner. Texas sends Cole Hamels (12-8, 3.72 ERA) to the mound to face Garrett Richards (15-11, 3.62) of the Angels. According to oddsmakers at GTBets, the Rangers are a -115 favorite at home, while the Angels are getting odds of +105 to win. The over/under total has been set at 8.5 runs. The Angels have now won 16 of their last 19 games in Texas coming into today after taking the last two in this series.
The Houston Astros (86-75) can clinch a playoff spot with a win when they face the Arizona Diamondbacks (78-83) on the road today at 3:10PM ET. Houston has a 1 game lead on the Angles for the second Wild Card playoff spot and the Astros still have a shot at the AL West title if Texas loses to the Angels. Houston has Lance McCullers (6-7, 3.21) on the mound to face Robbie Ray (5-12, 3.50) of the Diamondbacks. Oddsmakers have the Astros as a -185 favorite on the road against the Diamondbacks, while Arizona has a money line of +170 to win. The over/under total for the game has been set at 8.5 runs. Houston has won four straight and six of its last seven against the Diamondbacks and the two have hit the over in four of their last six meetings.
