Tuesday MLB Free Pick
(The Spread) – The Cardinals will look to end their current three-game losing streak when they take on the Nationals tonight at 7:05PM ET.
The Cardinals are coming off a disastrous series against the Brewers, one in which they were swept in three games by their NL Central rivals. They’ll hand the ball to Jaime Garcia tonight in hopes that he too will bounce back after his last start. He’s 6-2 on the year with a 3.20 ERA, but he allowed three runs on seven hits over five innings of work last week in a 4-1 loss to the Astros.
Meanwhile, the Nationals are on a three-game winning streak after sweeping the Padres in San Diego over the weekend. They’ll counter Garcia with Yunesky Maya, a Cuban defector that is 0-1 on the year with a 5.40 ERA.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog have made the visiting Cardinals –128 money line favorites over the Nationals for tonight’s game. Despite their current winning streak, the Nats are +121 on the line, while the over/under total is 7.5 runs.
MLB Free Pick: The Nationals may be on a three-game winning streak but their pitching staff won’t have the luxury of facing a brutal San Diego offense for three games. The Padres scored just two runs in that three-game series and despite only score a total of six runs themselves, the Nationals took advantage by sweeping San Diego. Garcia should bounce back after his below average outing last week in Houston and after one or two trips through the order, the Cardinals’ hitters should start to tee off on Maya. According to latest MLB trends, the Cardinals are 11-5 against the Nationals over the last three seasons and 16-6 in the last 22 meetings against Washington. Take St. Louis.
