(The Spread) – One of the oldest rivalries in baseball will be renewed tonight when the Giants host the Dodgers at 10:15PM ET.
Odds: Oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog have made the Giants –127 money line favorites over the Dodgers, who are +120 on the ML. The over/under total for this game is currently sitting at 6.5 runs.
Pitching Matchup: Chad Billingsley will take on 2011 All-Star Ryan Vogelsong in tonight’s pitching matchup. Billingsley has struggled at times this year but he’s 8-7 on the season with a 3.87 ERA and is 3-1 in his last four starts. Meanwhile, Vogelsong has been lights-out virtually all season while compiling a 6-1 record with a 2.17 ERA over 91.1 innings of work.
Public Betting: Of the 6,700-plus wagers on tonight’s game, 69% of the MLB betting public currently favors the Giants at –127 on the money line.
MLB Free Pick: Take San Fran. According to latest MLB trends, the Dodgers are just 1-4 in their last five road games against the Giants and 0-4 in the last four meetings overall. They’re also 1-4 in Billingsley’s last five road starts against the G-Men, while the Giants are 5-1 in Vogelsong’s last six starts as a favorite. San Fran is also 6-0 in Vogelsong’s last six starts versus a team with a losing record and is 11-4 in their last 15 games following a win. The Giants are coming off a successful road series in San Diego where they took three of four games from the Padres. Their lineup is still weak as a whole, but Pablo Sandoval is continues to be red-hot and guys like Nate Schierholtz are starting to contribute as well. They should pick up a victory tonight against their most hated rivals.
