Friday MLB Free Pick
(The Spread) – NL West rivals meet in the desert for a three-game series starting tonight, as the Diamondbacks host the Giants.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com have made the Diamondbacks –106 money line favorites over the Giants, who are +100 on the ML. First pitch of tonight’s game is set for 9:40PM ET.
The Giants enter tonight’s game after taking two of three from the Cardinals and Dodgers in two separate series at home. But now they must go on the road, where they’re just 2-4 so far this year.
Matt Cain will oppose Daniel Hudson, the later of which is 0-2 despite boasting a 3.46 ERA. Hudson was handed the loss in a 3-1 defeat to the Rockies on April 2 and in a 6-1 defeat to the Reds on April 9 despite only allowing two earned runs. Cain was incredibly sharp in his first two outings of the year, going 1-0 with a 1.38 ERA over 13 innings.
MLB Free Pick: The Giants are starting to find their groove. The defensive errors that haunted them at the start of the season are slowly starting to fade, even though both Andres Torres and Cody Ross remain sidelined by injuries. Ironically, it’s been a red-hot Aaron Rowand (who lost his starting job to Torres last season) that has led the Giants in Torres’ absence. Rookie Brandon Belt is slowly starting to find his stroke as well and Buster Posey is coming off a solid series against the Dodgers. Cain has often been the most underrated pitcher on the Giants staff and even though Arizona’s Chase Field is a bandbox, he should pitch well again tonight. According to MLB trends, the Giants are 5-1 in Cain’s last six starts against the Diamondbacks and 20-7 in their last 27 games against the D’Backs. Take San Francisco, which is quite the value at +100.
