Friday MLB Free Pick
(The Spread) – After taking two of three in Colorado, the Mets continue their six game road stand when they take on the Astros tonight.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com have made the Astros –107 money line favorites over the visiting Mets, who are +101. The over/under total for this 8:05PM ET game time is currently 7.5 runs.
Although they had to battle the elements for the entire three-game series, the Mets took two of three from the struggling Rockies over the last three days. In the rubber match on Thursday, Carlos Beltran went 3-for-5 with six RBI in a 9-5 victory, while Willie Harris scored three of the nine runs.
The Astros dropped two of three to the Reds earlier this week, but did manage to salvage a victory on Wednesday thanks to some late game heroics courtesy of Hunter Pence. His walk off double in the ninth scored J.R. Towles to give Houston a 4-3 win to avoid the sweep.
MLB Free Pick: The Mets will send right-hander Dillon Gee to the mound tonight, a youngster looking to go 3-0 on the new season. According to latest MLB trends, the Mets are 4-1 in Gee’s last five starts and are 5-1 in his last six outings versus a team with a losing record. Meanwhile, the Astros are 1-4 in their last five games and 3-13 in their last 16 outings when they won their previous contest. The Mets may be a little road wearily after their trip to Colorado, but they’re playing with confidence and this isn’t a very good Houston club that they’ll take on tonight. Take New York at a nice price.
