Friday MLB Free Pick
(The Spread) – Interleague play begins tonight in MLB, including in Kansas City when the Royals host the St. Louis Cardinals at 8:10PM ET.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog.com have made the visiting Cardinals –116 money line favorites against the Royals, who are +109 on the ML. The over/under total for this game is currently 9 runs.
The Cardinals enter tonight’s game on a four-game tear. They swept the Phillies and Astros in back-to-back two-game series at home, winning three out of the four contests as the favorites. Their pitching has been outstanding, limiting opponents to just five runs over their current four-game win streak. That’s impressive.
On the flip side, the Royals have really struggled in their last 10 games, winning only three of them. They did beat the Rangers 2-1 on Thursday night, but they’ve dropped five of their last six games, including an embarrassing 19-1 defeat at home to the first-place Indians.
MLB Free Pick: Let’s not over-think this one. Anything can happen day-to-day in baseball, but you’ve got one team playing well against another that’s struggling. And the price of the team that’s playing well is cheap (relatively speaking). The Cardinals are 6-2 in their last eight trips to Kansas City according to latest MLB trends, and are 8-3 in their last 11 games against the Royals. Chris Carpenter has had his struggles this year, including in his last outing against the Reds. But he’s the consummate pro and he’ll turn it around eventually. Take St. Louis tonight.
