Saturday MLB Free Pick
After giving up 15 runs in their season and home opener, can the Cleveland Indians flip the script Saturday afternoon and post their first victory of the season against the Chicago White Sox?
Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com have made the White Sox -128 favorites in the matchup and the over-under is set at 8.5.
Cleveland will turn to youngster Carlos Carrasco in the contest after he went 2-2 with a 3.83 earned-run average in seven starts last season. The White Sox counted with Edwin Jackson, who went 4-2 and had a 3.24 ERA in 11 starts with the White Sox after being acquired in a trade with Arizona last summer.
Thursday’s game was 14-0 before the Indians even knew what had hit them. Cleveland made a valiant comeback attempt in closing the final score to 15-10, showing the fight is in the Tribe this season. Chicago, on the other hand, gave a ffirst glimpse as to how potent its offense can be but expect it to also be inconsistent as there are many all-or-nothing guys in the lineup such as the newly acquired Adam Dunn.
MLB Free Pick: Carrasco only gave up more than three earned runs in one of his seven starts last season, so he showed the ability to keep the Indians in games. He should be able to extend his innings this year as he continues to learn how to pitch at the big league level. Jackson is inconsistent and I think the Indians hitters will tag him for a few early on, putting things in their hands quickly. I’m going with the home underdog here.
