Saturday’s MLB Free Pick
HOUSTON, TX (The Spread) – The Houston Astros will look to even up their home series with the Milwaukee Brewers Saturday. Let’s take a look at how the two sides size up.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com have made the Brewers -120 favorites in the contest and the host Astros are +110 underdogs. The over-under is set at 8.
Houston will send left-handed Wandy Rodriguez to the hill for the 7:05PM EST start. Rodriguez is currently 1-3 with a 5.40 earned-run average in five starts to date for the Astros. Milwaukee counters with a left-hander of its own in Randy Wolf, who is 3-2 with a 2.64 ERA in five starts. According to the latest trends, Wolf is 7-5 with a 3.40 ERA in 17 career starts against the Astros. Rodriguez is 7-7 with a 4.02 ERA in 19 appearances (18 starts) versus the Brewers.
The two pitchers squared off in Milwaukee six days ago with Wolf recording the 4-1 victory, throwing eight strong innings.
MLB Free Pick: Rodriguez is an inconsistent pitcher, but he usually follows a supbar start with a very good one. He allowed four earned runs on 10 hits in seven innings in the loss at Milwaukee Sunday, but also struck out nine so he was fooling some hitters. Rodriguez is a historically much better pitcher at home and I like for that to continue. As long as he keeps the Astros in the game, I like their chances because Wolf is pitching above what his career numbers suggest and is probably due for a poor start. Why not here on the road against a team looking to end a three-game skid. I don’t say this very often, but I like the Houston Astros +110 here.
SATURDAY MLB FREE PICK: HOUSTON ASTROS +110
