Sunday MLB Free Pick
(The Spread) – Fausto Carmona takes the hill for the red-hot Cleveland Indians Sunday afternoon to complete their series with the Baltimore Orioles.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com have made the Indians a -135 favorite, while the Orioles are a +125 underdog. The over-under for the game is set at 8.5.
Cleveland won a second straight game over struggling Baltimore Saturday afternoon at Jacobs Field, prevailing 8-3 for its eighth win in its last 10 contests. That improves the Indians to 10-4 overall, while the Orioles lost their sixth in a row to drop to 6-7.
After getting rocked by the Chicago White Sox on Opening Day, Carmona has settled in to throw gems in his last two outings. He is now 0-2 with a 6.11 earned-run average. Brad Bergesen gets the call for the Orioles as he is 0-1 with a 3.18 ERA in two appearances this season, one being a start.
MLB Free Pick: I am a bigger Carmona fan than most. When he is off he can admittedly be one of the most, but this is a guy who has a dominant sinker and when he is in rhythm can stifle any lineup in baseball. The Orioles have some power bats in their lineup that are struggling and Carmona could be someone to really frustrate them. On the other side, you have Bergesen who has had success in the past as a starter and excelled in his only career start versus Cleveland. I think with this being a day game and a get-away day, this one will stay low-scoring. Look for both starters to pitch fairly deep and then turn it over to a couple of capable bullpens.
SUNDAY MLB FREE PICK: BALTIMORE/CLEVELAND UNDER 8.5
