Sunday MLB Free Pick
(The Spread) – The Los Angeles Dodgers and the Chicago Cubs have split the first two games in their three-game set at Wrigley Field. Which side takes the series Sunday afternoon?
Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com have made the Cubs -120 favorites in the contest and the Dodgers are +110 underdogs. The over-under was not released overnight. The first pitch is set for 2:20PM EST.
Starting for the Dodgers will be Hiroki Kuroda, who is 2-2 with a 3.33 ERA. Carlos Zambrano starts for the Cubs and comes in with a 2-0 record along with a 4.21 ERA.
Los Angeles had its three-game winning streak snapped Saturday afternoon as it led 8-5 in the bottom of the eighth inning before giving up five runs to the Cubs in that frame, leading to a 10-8 defeat. According to the latest trends, Kuroda is 1-1 with a 0.59 ERA in two starts versus the Cubs. Zambrano comes in with a 2-3 record and 3.75 ERA in 12 appearances (eight starts) in his career versus the Dodgers.
MLB Free Pick: There is no doubt the Dodgers are playing some good baseball right now and there might be some truth in the relief of having Major League Baseball take over ownership of the franchise. Los Angeles was close to a fourth straight yesterday before a bullpen implosion, but I like the Dodgers to bounce back here. Kuroda is usually always solid and at the very least keeps his side in the game. He also has posted very good career numbers against Chicago. On the other side is the volatile Zambrano, who is prone to giving up a big inning at the drop of a hate. I respect Zambrano’s talent, but I think the the Dodgers bats led by Andre Ethier and Matt Kemp get to Big Z in this one. I am playing the Dodgers +110.
